Blues closing in on Magpies' Toite?
Chelsea may be about to declare a serious interest in Cheik Tiote. The Ivory Coast international joined Newcastle United from Dutch side Twente in the summer of 2010, in what has proved to be a bargain at £4.5m. Tiote, who has been compared favorably to his boyhood idol Michael Essien, was instrumental in his first season at Newcastle United. Alan Pardew has taken the step of stating publicly that they have not received a bid from Stamford Bridge; despite a media suggestion of a £20m offer. This story first broke in the summer window, where the Blues bought in Raul Miereles and Juan Mata but had offers for Luka Modric turned on. What is quite certain, is that there will be movements in and out of Stamford Bridge come January.
