Chelsea lead in race to sign Eduardo Vargas
The Blues have reportedly jumped ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign Universidad de Chile forward Eduardo Vargas. The 22-year-old is a target for a number of European clubs, with Arsenal, AC Milan, rivals Inter and Napoli also keen, although it had been thought that Liverpool were closing in on the Chile international, with a report at the weekend suggesting a £15m bid from Merseyside was set to be tabled next month. But according to Chilean media, Chelsea are now leading the race to sign Vargas as under-pressure manager Andre Villas-Boas looks to strengthen his squad.
