£25m move for Portuguese international midfielder
Chelsea will step up pursuit of a new midfielder and have set sights on Porto's Joao Moutinho, according to reports. Tottenham's Luka Modric is still Andre Villas-Boas first choice but it seems unlikely the Croatian midfielder is going to leave White Hart Lane and the Blues' boss has now turned his attentions to Moutinho. The pair worked together at Porto and Villas-Boas is keen to bring the Portuguese international to Stamford Bridge. With a number of players being linked with moves away from Chelsea including, Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou - Moutinho could be an ideal replacement as he is versatile and can operate in central midfield, holding midfield or as an attacking midfielder. Porto will not want to lose one of their prized assets and value the 24-year-old at £25m, but it is believed that Chelsea could meet that valuation once the January transfer window opens.
