Courtois agrees Atlético loan
Thibaud Courtois has joined Atlético Madrid on loan from Chelsea for the forthcoming season. The 19-year-old goalkeeper signed from the Belgian side Genk this month for a fee which could rise to £7.9m but with the Chelsea hierarchy regarding him as one for the future, he has been sent out on loan. The Blues have therefore given Courtois the chance to develop with Atletico, as he is expected to have a greater chance of first-team football at the Vicente Calderon. Courtois passed a medical on Friday morning in the Spanish capital and completed the necessary paperwork. The promising youngster, who was named Genk's player of the year and Belgium's goalkeeper of the year after helping them win the league title last season, will train with his new team-mates for the first time on Sunday. Atlético were in the market for a goalkeeper after David De Gea's departure to Manchester United this summer.
