Chelsea bid £45m for Pastore

Palermo president Maurizio Zamperini claims Chelsea have made a £45million bid for Argentine playmaker Javier Pastore. The Stamford Bridge outfit have been monitoring Pastore for months but, at least before the arrival of new coach Andre Villas-Boas, he was understood to be below Spurs schemer Luka Modric on their list of targets. Chelsea may feel their name is being used as Villas-Boas has put transfer plans on the back-burner until he starts his assessment of his squad when pre-season training begins on Wednesday. Stamford Bridge sources insist claims they are back on the trail of Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero are wide of the mark, although there is genuine interest in striker Radamel Falcao and midfielder Joao Moutinho of Villas-Boas' former club Porto, as well as Benfica left-back Fabio Coentrao.
